COLLECTION EXHIBITION
CURATOR: NECMİ SÖNMEZ
Boomoon, Bosphorus Fish Play No. 8 (detail), 2018.
Borusan Contemporary’s new collection exhibition, Water Reverie, which was scheduled to open in March 2020 but was postponed due to health measures, is now open. While Perili Köşk will remain closed for a while longer as per the public health precautions, the exhibition will offer new ways of experiencing artworks with the aid of virtual technologies.
Borusan Contemporary continues to bring together important representatives of contemporary art with the new collection exhibition, Water Reverie. The exhibition curated by Necmi Sönmez proposes to develop a cross-disciplinary reading of the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection by associating a selection of works from the collection and the eponymous oeuvre of Edip Cansever, who is recognized as a reputable figure in Turkish poetry.
The exhibition focuses on the new possibilities of expression in visual arts as well as the works’ interactive relationships with the viewers. The connections drawn between the universal language of poetry and contemporary images present the viewers with an extraordinary experience. Works by important contemporary artists, including Peter Coffin, Thierry Dreyfus, Boomoon, Ellen Kooi, Frank Thiel, Michael Wolf, Antti Laitinen, Rafaël Rozendaal, Jim Campbell, Marizio Nannucci, Hans Kotter are presented alongside the verses of Cansever.
The title of the exhibition, borrowed from Edip Cansever's eponymous poem, was translated into English by Julia Tillinghast.
