In conjunction with Doug Aitken: Naked City (2024), the artist’s first solo exhibition in Turkey, Borusan Contemporary presents a three-part workshop series led by artists and experts from diverse disciplines. Drawing inspiration from Aitken’s post-pandemic works, the program offers participants new ways of reconnecting—with the city, the body, sound, and collective creation.
Led by Tara Hopkins, the textile collage workshop takes Digital Detox (2020) as its point of departure, reflecting on the pandemic period and the transformative potential of making together. Offering participants a space for self-expression through fabric, the event aims to create a ground for creative encounter and dialogue.
The movement workshop, facilitated by Ekin Bernay, is inspired by Aitken’s works Ascending Stairs (2024) and Flags and Debris (2021), and explores the body’s relationship to the urban environment. Taking place outdoors, the workshop invites participants into a performance-based experience shaped by reflection, and visual refractions.
Nisan Ak’s soundscapes workshop draws inspiration from Aitken’s Naked City (2024), transforming the relationship between sound and the city into a sensory experience. Grounded in Aitken’s deep engagement with music, the workshop brings together auditory perception and meditative listening.
Organized in parallel with Borusan Contemporary’s 2025 exhibition Naked City (2024), the Doug Aitken: Naked City – Workshop Program will take place on the following dates:
