This movement workshop, inspired by Doug Aitken’s first solo exhibition in Turkey, Naked City (2024), will take place on the terrace of Perili Köşk. Led by Ekin Bernay, the workshop responds to two key works from the exhibition—Ascending Staircase (2024), a kinetic sculpture, and Flags and Debris (2021), a three-channel video installation. Participants are invited into a performative experience centered around the themes of reflection and refraction.
Exploring the relationship between the human body, space, and the urban environment through movement, this workshop encourages participants to reconsider the role of action in a world increasingly marked by digital immobility. In the first half of this open-air session, participants will engage in body awareness exercises. In the second half, under Bernay’s guidance, they will perform on a reflective surface, drawing inspiration from the city and the Bosphorus as they explore the concepts of reflection and fragmentation.
