Borusan Contemporary launches the new season with a compelling exhibition by Doug Aitken. Being a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene and the recipient of the prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 1999, along with the Nam June Paik Art Center Prize in 2012, the American multidisciplinary artist has been challenging the boundaries of all possible art forms since the 1990s.

From the beginning of his artistic career, Aitken has been exploring the complexities and contradictions of modern life and hyperconnectivity, the concept of freedom in globalized neoliberal societies, and its possible consequences on the isolation of individuals in our contemporary world. Deriving its cues from these themes, the artist’s first-ever exhibition in Turkey will be curated by Jérôme Sans, one of the preeminent figures in the contemporary art world, and showcase a selection of Aitken’s works from 2007 to 2024 that reflects the human condition of our time.

This monographic exhibition, which includes a site-specific installation commissioned by Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, invites visitors to the world of Aitken’s mastery in utilizing various mediums to create of immersive artworks that mirror the rhythm of the environment around them.
