EKMEL ERTAN
Ekmel Ertan is a curator, art director, artist, and educator working at the intersection of art and technology. He is a founding member and art director of amberPlatform / BİS (Body Process Arts Association), based in Istanbul. Between 2007 and 2015, he directed the amber Art and Technology Festival and has organized numerous exhibitions and events in Turkey and abroad as an independent curator in the field of art and technology.
Ertan has exhibited his artistic productions not only in Turkey but also in the United States and various European countries. Since 2007, he has served as a local coordinator and manager for multiple international projects supported by the European Union, focusing on art and technology.
He holds a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and a master’s degree in Interactive Media Design from Yıldız Technical University. After working as a design engineer in Turkey, Germany, and Belgium, he ran his own multimedia design company in Istanbul from 1997 to 2005.
Since 1999, Ertan has been teaching design and media arts at various institutions, including Bilgi University, Yıldız Technical University, Sabancı University, Istanbul Technical University (TBT Program), Izmir University of Economics, and Yeditepe University.
He currently lives and works between Istanbul and Berlin.
