Exhibition Concept
Gerwald Rockenchaub came to international attention in the 1980s as a creative artist who easily became one of the pioneering figures with his crossover oeuvre bringing Popular, Design and Club Cultures together, questioning interdisciplinary relationships. He currently lives and works in Berlin. It would not be possible to immediately label him as a painter, sculptor, nor a new media artist owing to his close interest in music, design, and other creative fields in addition to visual arts. The output is a body of not-so-easily definable works blending different visual aspects in collage aesthetics. We could call it “Rockenschaub Planet,” if not anything else.
